Sporting success

It was a big week for our sporting superstars.

Rowing

Last week our national rowing squad competed in Tasmania at the Australian National Rowing Championships, with outstanding results.Congratulations to the following students –

  • Gold – Chad Willett (U17 men’s single scull)
  • Silver – Laura Sypher (Schoolgirls single scull)
  • Silver – Laura Sypher and Olivia Cook (U19 Women’s quad scull, composite crew)
  • Bronze – Chad Willett and Fletcher Hewitt (U17 Men’s Double scull) 
  • Bronze – Riley Godwin and Marshall Leeson (U17 Men’s Quad Scull, composite crew)
Cricket

The First XI defeated TCC in the ¶¶ÒõAPPµ¼º½ final of the state wide T20 competition. The team kept TCC to 80 runs and ¶¶ÒõAPPµ¼º½ achieved those runs in eight overs. Wickets were shared around and Matt Van Bael was 17 not out as the highest run scorer. Congratulations!

Rugby Union

RGS hosted the Rugby grand finals in late March.  The Open Girls defeated Emmaus and the First XV defeated St Brendan’s to record the School’s 14th consecutive First XV Trophy. The U15 Boys were defeated by a very good St Brendan’s side.
